We just happened upon this Lodge.
The following is an excerpt from the article Historic Green River Schools. This and the B&W photograph were graciously sent to us by the Secretary of Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 6, Charles F. Conroy, P.M. Thank you, Charles!

What is now the Mt. Moriah Masonic Temple was built as Green River's third public school in 1891. The school served grades one through nine and originally had three finished classrooms. The lower grades attended class on the ground floor while the upperclassmen were taught upstairs. Subjects included reading, writing, arithmetic and spelling for the youngsters with language, hygiene, geography, physiology, Latin and bookkeeping added in the upper grades. In 1905 the school board added the tenth grade to the school and over the next seven years added the remaining two grades. The first full high-school graduation occurred in 1912 when one student, Ruth Lenhart, commenced.

The building continued to serve as a school for lower grades even after the construction of newer schools. It also housed the Sweetwater County Library from 1895 to 1907.

The building's career as a school ended in 1926 when it was purchased by the Masons. There have been several renovations, but much of the original character of the building has been retained.
